Baptist Health Floyd is dedicated to providing high-quality care with an emphasis on wellness and prevention to proactively prevent disease. This commitment is even more evident with the addition of our Osteoporosis Clinic, now offered through Baptist Health Medical Group Orthopedic Care.
As the only clinic locally devoted solely to treating osteopenia and osteoporosis, it provides treatment options for both conditions and coordinates with the Baptist Health Floyd’s Imaging Center for patient screenings. The screenings are provided for patients with a family history of osteoporosis and allow those wishing to get an early on prevention and/or treatment – using the most advanced diagnostic testing (DEXA scans) to analyze bone density. The results from the screening are then used to develop a personalized plan for patients to preserve bone density and, if possible, restore what has been lost.
It is estimated that seven to eight million people have osteoporosis in the United States with 17 million more having low bone density. An estimated 1.5 million osteoporosis related fractures occur each year alone. The need for a clinic focusing its patient care on prevention, awareness, diet and exercise is of critical importance. As a result, we are committed to serving those patients who are not receiving adequate osteoporosis care.
The clinic is located in the Orthopedic Care office at 2125 State Street, Suite 5 in New Albany. Hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m-4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-noon.
Patients may be referred to the clinic through their medical provider or through a self-referral, as one from a provider is not required. To set up an evaluation, please call 812.944.2663.
