With obesity becoming a serious health threat to more and more people, General Surgeon Ashley Lankford, MD, was very excited when she learned about a gastric band and integrated weight loss support program that has been getting remarkable results. “Not only is the minimally invasive surgery technique performed to maximize comfort and minimize recovery,” explained Dr. Lankford, “but the band and surgical technique are accompanied by a very important support component called REALIZE mySUCCESS™. It is part of a comprehensive support program that we offer patients. And research shows that support is critical in helping patients lose weight and keep it off.”
“We are thrilled with the great interest in the seminars we are offering on the Realize™ gastric band. In addition to individuals who sign up on their own, we are getting lots of referrals from primary care physicians. I believe it shows that we are filling a major void in the community by offering this new procedure and support program.”

Obesity Can Be Deadly
Men and women with morbid obesity have 50 to 100 percent higher mortality rates than men and women with healthy weights. Several serious and life-threatening diseases are linked to obesity. They are type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnea, depression and several cancers, including breast and colon cancer.
