Free Massage Therapy Available to Cancer and Pain Patients

Massage therapy has proven to be effective in improving blood pressure, respiration and pulse rates. It also reduces the perception of pain. “We began our massage program seven years ago with a grant from BPW and Links for Life Foundation,” explained Rayna Withers, MS, ARRT, (R) (T), director of Radiation Oncology.
“Originally, it was offered only to breast cancer patients. However, it has been so successful, that we now offer it to all cancer and pain patients who are receiving treatment at Baptist Health Floyd. This
service is available two days a week at the Cancer Center of Indiana, and two days a week at Baptist Health Floyd on the Medical Inpatient Unit.”
Several generous organizations have provided grants that allow us to offer this service free of charge. They include the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana,
the Harrison County Community Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, L-Ville, Links for Life Foundation, as well as a grant from the Kroger Company. For more information, call 812-945-4000 x 214.
