  1. Snoring is a common problem, but isn’t harmful – Although snoring may be harmless for most people, it can also be a symptom of Sleep Apnea and/or hypertension, each of which come with dangerous consequences to your overall health.
  2. You can cheat on the amount of sleep you get – Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. When you don’t get adequate amounts of sleep on a regular basis, you accumulate a sleep debt that can never be paid back. Sleep deprivation has been linked to health problems such as obesity, hypertension, mood behaviors and safety issues at work or while driving.
  3. Insomnia is characterized by difficulty falling asleep – Difficulty falling asleep is just one of four symptoms of insomnia. Other symptoms include waking up too early and being unable to fall back asleep, frequent waking, and not feeling refreshed after waking up. When symptoms of insomnia occur more than a few times per week, and impact your daytime functions, you should have a discussion with your physician.
