Baptist Health Floyd Home Healthcare Receives National Recognition During National Home Care and Hospice Month

November is National Home Care and Hospice Month and Baptist Health Floyd Home Healthcare has once again earned recognition on the HomeCare Elite™ Top 500 list of home health agencies nationwide. This is the fourth year in a row that Baptist Health Floyd Home Healthcare has made the prestigious list, and the fifth year overall.

HomeCare Elite uses data from Home Health Compare and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cost reports to create the list. Five areas are analyzed – quality of care, quality of improvement and consistency, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial performance.

Home Care Aide Week is November 10 to 16. Home healthcare nurses and aides play a central role in their patients’ lives, and Baptist Health Floyd recognizes their efforts.

In coming years, home care and hospice are poised to play a central role in the delivery of healthcare throughout the country. A wide range of forces are joining to push care away from nursing homes and drive it toward home and community-based care. Based on demography and dollars, experts agree that the destiny of healthcare lies in the home.

There will be even more patients who need home care as the 78 million baby boomers continue to age. The first of the boomers turned 65 last year and the rest will reach their golden years over the next two decades. As they do, healthcare dollars will grow even scarcer, especially if Medicare provides the boomers with costly institutional care.
